People are always asking me... "what is a Promotional Model" so I figured I would define what I would consider the 5 different types of promotional modeling work that you can get into depending on your skills and personality. Not every type of promotional work may be right for everyone, so try them all and pick what fits best for you.
1.Spokesmodels or Tradeshow Models: These are models selected to promote a company or product for a high end show or convention. These models are generally the highest paid (on average earning between $20-$60+ per hr) depending on their look and expenses in the particular industry. Ultimitly they are attractive sales people.
2.Product Demonstrator & In-Store Marketers: These brand ambassadors are selected to engage the consumer with live interaction on how a product works. oftentimes, these models participate in give-a-ways and free product samples, both food and drink.
3.Nightclub or Bar Promotors: These models are hired to drive mostly liquor and spirit beverages at various nightclubs and concert venues. Pay is high, but requires that models have a sexy look and must be able to work late nights/early mornings.
4.Street Teams & Guerrilla Style Marketing: Individuals often work as a team in order to drive consumer awareness on a brand, service, or product in high public traffic areas. While selling is never the motive, survey quotas and sign-up expectations are mostly the goal behind street teams.
5. Atmosphere or Ambiance Models: These are models selected simply to be part of the atmosphere at an event. There job is to meet and greet the guests and make them feel at home and welcome. Often they are given uniforms and sometimes they are requested to serve or bartend. The interaction is very engaging allowing the customer to create an emotional connection with the brand.
Best of luck!
